M? te t?ma – About our team
The Division of Shared Services is a team of highly skilled professional staff responsible for delivering an outstanding student and staff practice through high quality, effective service delivery to all the University's internal and external customers.
Our specific focus is on the student practice felt by our students here at the University of Otago. We work to provide accurate and timely information, assistance and advice across activities such as University and programme admission, scholarship administration, course advice, examinations and assessment, academic record maintenance, academic progression (including prizes and awards), and graduation.
Te mahi – The function
We have a great leadership abilities opportunity within the Student practice team. In this function you will be responsible for leading the Student Administration team, a group handling admissions, examinations, graduations, scholarships, research, awards and prizes, course management and results, and academic integrity.
You will hold a specific portfolio and will work closely with two other Group Leaders. This is a business-critical function for the University, and you will play a key function in ensuring our future students continue to receive the ?Otago practice? that we are famous for.
You will work in partnership with key academic areas and professional service teams to provide and manage support activities across a variety of portfolios. You will play an important function in prioritising and setting workload as well as acting as an escalation point for complex and/or challenging enquiries.
The range of tasks for this function are broad and include:
   » superviseing prioritisation and workload for a team providing a range of Student Administration activities.
   » Guiding and developing a supportive and high-performance work culture.
   » Working as part of the Student practice leadership abilities team to drive future direction for the team.
   » Undertaking operational activities and/or projects such as: recruitment and scheduling of invigilators, supporting delivery of examinations and graduation ceremonies, and reviewing escalated student queries.
   » Ensuring staff are informed and understand legislative obligations and privacy requirements.

Due to the nature of the Shared Services Division, the range of tasks and responsibilities is broad and may require performing tasks at different workplaces or locations across campus.

This is a full-time (37.5 hours per week), permanent position.
