MOTAT is currently seeking an Exhibitions Developer - M?tauranga M?ori to join a core project team to develop and deliver a new Science and Technology centre. The SciTech Centre is at the heart of MOTAT's vision to educate and inspire the innovators of tomorrow, confirming MOTAT as the go to place for science and technology in Aotearoa. This new destination will be a playful and accessible platform for exhibition and practices that bring science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM) to life, alongside heritage collections and innovations from New Zealand's current leaders in these fields.
About the function
The Exhibitions Developer - M?tauranga M?ori will take the lead on the development and delivery of content and interpretation from an ao M?ori perspective. With a natural capability to walk in two worlds, you will be someone who thrives in an environment where our visitors are at the forefront of what we do, and where we aim to attract a diverse audience through the prosperous delivery of an interactive exhibitions programme. Primarily this function will focus on the development and delivery for MOTAT's new centre for science, technology, and innovation (?SciTech Centre') but will also be involved in other exhibitions projects, including MOTAT's Pumphouse project and Te Wai ?rea narrative.
This is a 2-year fixed term 40 hour per week position , with the benefit of flexible working hours and the capability to work a portion of hours in the house each week.

We want you to bring your unique flair to your work, acknowledging that we all come from different backgrounds, previous work contexts, and areas of skills. We want you to tell us about yourself and the knowledge you bring when Information technology comes to developing creative, audience-focused practices from a M?ori worldview. Share with us about how you have fostered significant and longstanding relationships, particularly within te ao M?ori (M?ori organisations, cultural advisors, and community groups). Through your past practices you will have developed the capability to identify, understand and respond to target audiences. Ideally you will have built these skills in a museum setting, however as long as you can demonstrate an knowledge of the considerations and processes required to work with museum collections, that's all we need!
