The Kai?rahi Kaupapa M?ori is a challenging function as part of the M?ori Relationships team that provide specialist technical and strategic support and guidance to Council’ governance members and teams in relation to legislative and partnership responsibilities to M?ori. In this function, you will take a proactive approach to establishing effective relationships and networks with hap?, iwi and other stakeholders, providing accurate and timely specialist advice, contributing to policy development, specialist training where necessary, advancing the implementation of Council initiatives and advising on Council’s involvement in treaty settlement processes. The key responsibility will be to develop relationships with hap?/iwi to have a kanohi ki te kanohi approach in Resource Management Act 1991 (RMA) matters and providing advice and information to assist in having a shared knowledge of the processes, and seeking resolutions of any issues raised by t?ngata whenua. This is a permanent full-time position located in Wh?ngarei. An opportunity to make a difference in communities? You will ideally have a significant qualification in M?ori and/or sciences and practice and working knowledge of the Resource Management Act 1991. practice working in a council environment is preferred. You will have a sound knowledge of tikanga M?ori as well as knowledge and knowledge of the of the complexity of t?ngata whenua issues and challenges, particularly in regard to Te Taitokerau.
