Discapability advocates, champions, experts, lived practiced… lend me your ears.
We have an opportunity to ensure that aspirations for disabled peoples come to fruition to ensure the way that disabled peoples access and receive health care is of the highest quality.
You will be joining the equity team in this newly created function that will prioritise quality and safety in the health system to deliver on equitable results for disabled peoples.
Our organisation shines a light on health quality, improvement, and safety within the health system.
Your function will be varied and will include but is not limited to the following:
   » Supporting and leading quality improvement projects, programmes and learning resources that positively change disabled peoples practice of the health system leading to more equitable results
   » Supporting and leading the development of learning resources that allow for better discapability health equity
   » Where required, writing, and analysing of research and reports pertaining to our function
   » Discapability ‘cultural safety’ coaching to support and guide commission colleagues and workforce to have culturally safe mahi and approaches
Ideally, the preferred candidate will:
   » be a champion for tangata whaikaha and disabled communities
   » have an in-depth expertise of the practices of disabled peoples
   » adept at analysing and collating data
   » have strong written communication expertise or the capability to inform policy writing and storytelling
   » be digitally savvy
   » have strong community links and networks
   » be able to work autonomously and concurrently to lead and progress a discapability work programme
   » be able to influence, innovate, improve and inform in the work that we do with the health sector and internally
   » have a frontline, health, education, social justice or community practitioner background
   » have the capability to travel independently.
Although the preference for this function is to be either Auckland or Wellington-located, there is some flexibility.
As a sector leader for quality and safety, we work with clinicians, providers, consumers and wh?nau to improve health and discapability support services. We are a stand-alone Crown entity with a Board responsible to the Minister of Health, helping providers across the health sector, both private and public, to improve service safety and quality and therefore results for all who use these services in Aotearoa New Zealand.
