The Dunedin School of Medicine’s Department of General Practice and Rural Health is an academic unit within the Otago Medical School – Dunedin Campus. The Department has established strengths in health care delivery research, medical anthropology, medical education and rural health. Staff in the department have active research collaborations across the Otago Medical School, the Division of Health Sciences (Physiotherapy, Pharmacy) and the Otago Business School. We value the development and mentoring of new and emergent researchers.
We are committed to working closely with iwi and M?ori organisations and m?tauraka M?ori has become an integral part of teaching and research across the institution. Our relationship with Ng?i Tahu as mana whenua within their takiw? of Te Waipounamu and, through this, as the University’s principal Treaty partner is especially important.
The function – Te mahi
We are pursuing an adjunct Research Fellow to undertake a research consultation exercise with primary care clinicians and academics to determine the research priorities of the Southern Primary Healthcare Research Network.
Working closely with the Principal Investigator the prosperous candidate will undertake the following tasks:
   » Advertising and recruiting participants.
   » Producing and disseminating research materials.
   » Coordinating the Delphi process.
   » Facilitate the prioritisation exercise.
   » Writing draft summary documents, reports, and publications on the findings of the project.

   » Masters or PhD research qualification preferred.
   » Research practice in qualitative research methods.
   » An knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
   » The capability to interact effectively, tactfully and diplomatically with a wide variety of staff.
   » A professional, accountable, pro-active, and service orientated approach.
   » Proven capability to work effectively and collegially in a team environment.
   » Demonstrate a significant degree of independence and initiative in their work.
   » Te Reo proficiency is not required but is considered an advantage.
As this is a collaborative project, you are expected to have well-developed interpersonal communication expertise and the capability to write clearly and contribute to the preparation of manuscripts.

This is a part-time (0.5 FTE), fixed term position (12 months), located in Dunedin. The position is available from 1 January 2023. The income for this position ranges from $51,091 to $71,281 per annum (pro rata).
