He angit?tanga – The Opportunity We are seeking for an practiced Senior Advisor who is passionate about improving results for M?ori, enhancing engagement with M?ori, and developing and maintaining strong relationships with external advisors and Kaumatua. The prosperous candidate will be responsible for leading and embracing a Kaupapa-centred approach, offering support to Council and the leadership abilities team, providing advice on tikanga, te ao Maori, te tiriti o Waitangi and matauranga. Nga Kawenga me nga Mahi – Responsibilities and tasks » Assisting Whiria te Tangata with monitoring and reviewing strategies and policies and their compliance with iwi settlement legislations that affect the South Waikato District. » Developing the capabilities of the organisation, and providing specific advice where required, to ensure a kaupapa-centred approach. » Effectively manage SWDC’s relationships with Iwi in our District and those that have an interest in the strategies, policies, and activities of Council. » Advocating and clarifying the SWDC position on aspirations, plans and projects when liaising with Iwi. He K?rero m?u – About you To be prosperous in this function, We are seeking for Somebody with: » A recognised commitment to and knowledge of te reo M?ori me ?na tikanga » practice in leading engagement initiatives with iwi/ Maori. » An knowledge of obligations for Council and iwi under significant legislation include the Local Government Act, Resource Management Act, and Te Tiriti o Waitangi. » A track record of integrating and championing M?ori perspectives and te ao M?ori values in key strategic programmes » Confidence and/or credibility and mana to influence, build and sustain good relationships with iwi, hap?, wh?nau, M?ori and other key stakeholder groups Please note that we may begin shortlisting applications as they are received.
