Te ?huatunga a te T?ranga – About the function
Te Ture Whenua M?ori Act 1993 recognises that whenua is a taonga tuku iho of special significance to M?ori. The 2020 Amendments have refreshed the Act to better enable and realise the aspirations of M?ori landowners. The primary objective of both Courts is to promote and assist in the retention of M?ori land in the hands of its owners and for the effective use, management and development of that land by its owners.
We have a vacancy for a Pae Manawa/Principal Liaison agent located in our Rotorua District Office. Our Pae Manawa are responsible for providing specialist facilitation, assessment, analysis and information services to M?ori land-owners and customers of the Court; and, to enable them to obtain and access specialist resources and professional advice.
This is a rare opportunity to showcase your relationship management abilities to broker positive engagement and results for M?ori landowners with the new M?ori Land and M?ori Appellate Courts.
A key function of the function is to work in partnership with iwi, hapu, other M?ori organisations and networks, government agencies and significant professional service providers to facilitate permissions from the Court affecting the occupation, utilisation and development of M?ori land through proactively developing and maintaining engagement relationships.

To be prosperous in the function you will have:
   » already shown your abilities as a proven people leader and a great communicator (both written and verbal)
   » an in-depth knowledge of the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi
   » demonstrated capability to effectively manage M?ori/Crown relationships
   » proven practical practice applying business sense in an environment applicable to M?ori Land
   » demonstrated networking, brokering, facilitation and customer service expertise
   » broad knowledge of, and connections with, local iwi, hapu and other M?ori organisations and networks
   » previous practice in public relations, customer service or media management functions
   » broad working practice with Te Ture Whenua M?ori Act 1993 and related legislation
   » a good general knowledge and respect for tikanga me te reo M?ori and a commitment to further develop your knowledge of Te Ao M?ori.
You will work alongside well-established, practiced and vibrant teams alongside technical experts and you’ll be flexible, calm, resilient and comfortably able to operate within the court environment.
The capability to travel across the district and occasionally support wider regional and national programmes is essential. A full New Zealand driver’s licence is required.

income range
The appointing income will be between $71,720 – $93,658 located on expertise and practice.
