The NZ Marine Studies Centre is the public face of Marine Science at the University of Otago. Our mission is to foster knowledge and appreciation of New Zealand’s unique marine environment and responsibility towards its conservation. We do this to help every New Zealander develop an enduring knowledge of, and interest in, New Zealand's marine realm through an interactive partnership with New Zealand schools, communities, and families.
The function Te mahi
As a Teaching Fellow located at our Portobello Marine Studies Centre, you will develop, manage, and promote our community engagement programme, showcasing local marine life and offering marine practices and events for all ages.
this function will involve organising community events, teaching field/laboratory located marine science programmes, development of educational resources and connected administrative tasks.

prosperous candidates will have:
   » practice with community engaged learning and teaching.
   » practice working with community groups (including M?ori and Pacific communities).
   » Excellent communication expertise.
   » Good organisational and computer expertise.
   » Knowledge of marine science and New Zealand coastal habitats would be an advantage.
Interest in the marine environment and science are essential, along with knowledge of Te Ao M?ori. Knowledge of te reo M?ori and practice working with M?ori and Pacific students would be an advantage.
Some flexibility in working hours will be required as the job will require some weekend and evening work.

This is a permanent, full-time position, located at Portobello in Dunedin.
