   » Exciting opportunity to work with the Turnbull Library's Acquisitions Services and Curatorial Services Teams on cross team projects with analogue, digitised and born-digital archival and special collections in various formats.
   » Help promote and share the history of Aotearoa New Zealand through the continuing development of the Turnbull collections.
   » Be part of a holistic system, working collaborating to improve the representation of all New Zealanders, especially those who have been historically underrepresented in the Library's collections.
We have an opportunity for an practiced cultural heritage professional to join the Alexander Turnbull Library's recently formed Acquisitions Services Team in a fixed term function until 30 June 2025. In this function you will be a member of the Acquisitions Services Team and will work closely with staff in the Acquisitions Services Team, the Curatorial Services Team and collaboratively with staff across the Library to ensure the smooth functioning of our services, including donor relationships, acquisitions workflows, appraisal, researcher and reference services and special projects to improve collections management and access to and use of the Library's collections.
In this function you will work as a key contributor, assisting with donor and researcher correspondence, appraisal and accessioning of new and backlog collections, identifying collections for digitisation, archival processing, and other key Library projects. This is an exciting time to join the team as we're redeveloping our acquisitions process, to make them more sustainable and seamless from initial donor or vendor contact, to appraisal and accession through to arrangement and description and researcher access. If you're looking for a function that uses your systems thinking and practice with documentary heritage to benefit end user access to the rich collections of the Alexander Turnbull and National Library of New Zealand, this may be the function for you. skills in photographic formats, in drawings, paintings and prints, and/or Pacific history and cultures would be advantageous.
To be prosperous in the function you will have:
   » The capability to work or quickly lgain to work across archival formats and understand province and original order when processing material
   » The talent to communicate effectively with wide-ranging audiences and communities.
   » practice working with cultural heritage collections in a Library, Archives or similar organisation and demonstrated knowledge of the balance between ?protecting privacy and copyright' and ?facilitating access to collections'.
   » Mindset that balances new acquisitions with responsible stewardship of existing collections while building a more diverse and inclusive record for future generations.
   » Demonstrated knowledge of and engagement with archival theories and principles, especially strong appraisal, accessioning, as well as arrangement and description practice and knowledge.
   » practice of working with donors and an capability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with donors and dealers, your team, the wider business, and documentary heritage sector colleagues
