The opportunity
Wh?raurau requires a Clinical M?ori Advisor in Mental Health who can bring their clinical and cultural leadership abilities lense to Wh?raurau's professional learning and development (PLD) activities. You will have the capability to do this through the end to end design of content and with the PLD training opportunities you will facilitate. You will demonstrate the capability to put a Te Ao Maori world view in training programmes you design and deliver that will provide business growth in Te Tiriti PLD.
You will have clinical practice in infant, child, youth mental health and working with their wh?nau. You will demonstrate project management and delivery capcapability alongside your clinical skills in mental health. Key Job responsibilities:
   » Research, design and present workforce development initiatives that align with Kaupapa M?ori approaches and key projects supporting the mental health and wellbeing of tamariki and wh?nau.
   » Identify opportunities for participation in activities and projects that relate to M?ori child and youth mental health.
   » Strengthen relationships and communication between key M?ori stakeholders and Wh?raurau to guide and inform the development of the child and youth mental health workforce.
   » Ensure that Wh?raurau staff are culturally supported from a clinical perspective in the design of their work, while they develop their own cultural competency across all initiatives and projects.
   » Ensure principles of Te Tiriti O Waitangi are supported and implemented in delivery of service.
Your skills and practice:
It is essential for you to hold:
   » significant Clinical Qualifications within child, youth and mental health. Such as backgrounds in: Psychology, Social Work, Psychiatry, Senior Practitioner Mental Health Nursing.
   » Clinical practice in NZ mental health services, especially with child and youth mental health, 5 - 7 years at clinical level.
   » expertise of sector needs and issues in relationship to workforce development. Able to articulate the impact of mental, physical, emotional, social and spiritual issues for whaiora taiohi M?ori.
   » Professional working proficiency in Te Reo me ?n? tikanga, confidence delivering whaik?rero and other leadership abilities functions in hui M?ori settings.
   » capability to research, translate and integrate cultural & clinical explanations where appropriate. Must be able to distil and convey complex ideas and information in ways that can be understood by diverse audiences, including discussion papers.
   » practice in across-agency/sector initiatives, project work and complex multi-party projects.
   » The capability to travel nationally with potential for weekly travel when required.

Wh?raurau works to improve the mental health and wellbeing of infants, children and youth and those who care for them by providing workforce development within the mental health and addiction sector in Aotearoa. Through UniServices, a wholly owned social impact company of Waipapa Taumata Rau, University of Auckland, we are contracted by the Ministries of Health and Education to grow the capacity and capcapability of the infant, child, youth and wh?nau mental health and addictions workforces. We offer a range of e?Learning courses, training, webinars and service supports that are government-funded and free to access.
