   » Full-time 1.0 FTE (40 hours per week) permanent function

M? te t?ranga – About the function
The secondary care Kaupapa M?ori General Health service – Te Ara Hauora is the M?ori Health Unit located at Dunedin Hospital The team comprises of three Kaiawhina and is part of a wider M?ori Health team ‘Te K?hui M?ori’ that includes Te Huinga Tahi located in Southland Hospital and the secondary care Kaupapa M?ori Mental Health Services of Te Oranga Tonu Tanga and Te Korowai Hou Ora.
In this position, you will be working as a key member of the multi-disciplinary team, involved in care planning, advocacy, decision making and discharge planning for t?roro and their wh?nau as they move through the health system.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
   » Provide an knowledge of Te Ao M?ori within the systems and processes of Te Whatu Ora Southern
   » Support for fulfilling Cultural requests received via the referral system
   » Cultural support and advocacy services to M?ori patients and their wh?nau – kanohi ki te kanohi. Support may include: karakia, waiata, w?tea, mihi
   » Assistance to ensure that patients and their wh?nau are fully informed of and understand the process of care that will occur during their inpatient stay at Dunedin Public Hospital
   » Conflict resolution and participation in wh?nau hui
   » Promotion of education, health promotion and equitable outcome strategies
M?u ake – About you:
   » practice within M?ori health and communities, but if not have real passion and strong links to M?ori communities
   » Knowledge of M?ori world view – Whakapapa, Wh?nau, hapu, iwi
   » Proficiency in Te Reo me ?na tikaka is advantageous, however not essential
   » A passion for inspiring others to embrace Te Ao M?ori and M?tauranga M?ori
   » Good interpersonal expertise, including capability to work effectively with people at all levels of the organisation
   » Have excellent reading, writing and computer literacy
   » High level of confidentiality and capability to act with discretion and sensitivity at all times

Utu wh?nui – income range
this function belongs to the Allied, Public Health, Scientific & Technical Multi-Employer Collective Agreement and falls between step 1 ($59,035 p.a) and Step 8 ($85,992 p.a pro rata)
