Reporting into the Marketing Director this function is a member of a marketing team of eight. This is an exciting and rare opportunity for a publicist, media or arts professional to join a positive, inclusive and results driven environment and to work with artistic talent and creative story makers. Strong interpersonal, communication and influencing expertise are essential in order to build relationships and creatively collaborate with media, artists, creatives, the broader company, and arts industry colleagues. You will need to be able to keep your cool under pressure. This is a hands-on function and you must be able to prioritise and plan your workload in an environment where there are many competing ideas, campaigns and deadlines. Flexibility is on offer for this position.Depending on the candidate and your practice, this function can be part time (minimum 25 hours per week) or full time with flexible workdays and partially remote.This position is ?located' in our Mt Eden/Balmoral offices and our theatre is the ASB Waterfront Theatre in Wynyard Quarter. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Press & Media Management » Lead the media strategy - develop and implement public relations campaigns for each show season, Auckland Theatre Company as an institution, as well as its artistic, education, and development programs. » Draft and distribute media releases. » contact and build relationships with traditional and non-traditional media, pitching unique stories, coordinating interviews and site visits, and securing press coverage across various media channels, including digital, print, television, radio, etc. » Invite key press to attend opening night and review productions, provide reviewers with production photos and information day of opening, meet & greet press on opening night, assist opening night photographer. Stakeholder Management » Build and maintain excellent working relationships with journalists, critics, editors, commentators and others across all media. » Build and maintain excellent working relationships with casts, creatives and co-producers. Media Administration » Keep abreast of current media trends and key journalist/editor movements in general and industry publications. » Build and manage media lists for Auckland Theatre Company » Maintain media coverage records and manage distribution of press clippings and other coverage to company and co-producers. CONTRIBUTION TO AUCKLAND THEATRE COMPANY A high level of professionalism is required in this function. A primary responsibility to Auckland Theatre Company and its artistic endeavours is essential. This includes but is not limited to: » have expertise of, or a availability to develop expertise of, Te Ao M?ori/the M?ori world view, tikanga M?ori/protocols and customs, te reo M?ori/M?ori language and Te Tiriti o Waitangi/Treaty of Waitangi. » maintaining a productive and effective working relationship with all colleagues to promote a cooperative, inclusive and harmonious working environment in order to facilitate positive employee morale, productivity, and continued improvement; » dealing with suppliers, contractors, creative staff and actors in a professional and courteous manner at all times; and » A commitment to learn, grow and faithfully implement inclusive work practices and cultural change to create an open and welcoming workplace for all New Zealanders. expertise AND practice » Excellent writing and editorial expertise essential. » Familiarity with, entertainment, theatre and/or arts and culture strongly preferred. » Good working expertise of Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint, Teams and Word applications. » At least 5 years of work practice in a communications or media relations department. » Valid full drivers license and car to attend and assist talent where needed with media opportunities. Expenses reimbursed. » Tertiary qualification in communications, public relations or writing desirable.
