Early Intervention Teacher
   » We have a big and important job to do, and we need your help

   » Work as part of a trans-disciplinary team of dedicated professionals
   » Permanent, full-time position in our Gisborne office
Our Learning Support specialists work closely with families, wh?nau, caregivers, schools and early childhood educators in English and M?ori medium settings, as welll as other agencies to help maximise learning results and promote social inclusion.
As an Early Intervention Teacher, you will play a critical function in our region’s Learning Support team by:
   » supporting transition points in the child’s learning pathway such as transition into early childhood and to school as required
   » providing high quality learning support in conformity with the guiding principles, strands, and goals of Te Wh?riki: Early Childhood Curriculum and Te Wh?riki a te Kohanga Reo
   » strengthening the capcapability of those who are best placed to support the learning of children
   » assessing, collaboratively planning, supporting, and monitoring the implementation of individual (or group) intervention plans.
To be prosperous you will need the following:
   » A Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood) or significant tertiary qualification
   » Post-graduate Diploma in Specialist Teaching: Early Intervention or the capability to attain this within four years of beginning in the position
   » A minimum of three years’ practice and a deep knowledge of child development, learning and behaviour
   » An knowledge of a range of needs and disabilities and their implications for everyday functi oning in family life and for teaching and learning in the context of early childhood and family homes
   » Excellent communication and interpersonal expertise and an capability to work effectively with children, young people and their families and teachers across a diverse range of settings
   » The capability to understand and apply the principles of Te Tirirti o Waitangi and tangatawhenuatanga
