Our broad focus on patient care, research and education offers an excellent career opportunity. We are seeking for clinicians with skills or interest in stereotactic body radiation (SBRT), central nervous system (CNS) and head and neck cancers, sarcomas and gynaecological cancers. The remuneration package for this function is in conformity with the Senior Medical agents MECA. Waikato DHB provides the full spectrum of Radiation Oncology services. Our department runs on the Eclipse planning system and has four linear accelerators able to provide all aspects of modern radiation delivery including rotational IMRT and image guidance through cone beam CT. The department also has superficial kilovoltage equipment for the treatment of skin cancers. We are a leading centre in HDR brachytherapy treatment, with an active brachytherapy programme treating multiple different anatomic sites with an emphasis on gynaecological and prostate brachytherapy. We routinely use stereotactic ablative radiation therapy for many sites including lung, CNS, spine and bone. We are one of the few centres in the country treating kidney & prostate cancers using SABR. The prosperous applicant would have the opportunity to be involved in the development of radiosurgical techniques to other body sites if they chose. We are also the national provider of total skin electron therapy for skin lymphomas. At Waikato Hospital you would join a team of seven medical oncologists, seven haematologists, eight radiation oncologists and seven palliative care physicians. As a Regional Cancer Centre we provide oncology services to a regional population of approximately 750,000 with radiation therapy treatment provided at Waikato Hospital and outpatient clinics in Hamilton and three secondary hospitals. Waikato Hospital is a teaching hospital and one of five campuses of the University of Auckland Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences. The appointee has opportunities to become involved in teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Currently we have 5 Radiation Oncology Registrars in the accredited training programme.
