About our group The Secondary Tertiary team sits within the Early Learning and Student Achievement Group (ELSA) and covers the transition from senior secondary through to tertiary and employment. ELSA delivers and maintains critical services to support responsive learner pathways from early childhood into further education, training, the workforce and society. ELSA performs a crucial function working between the strategy and policy teams, and the sector facing functions. The Secondary Tertiary team is responsible for operational policy, curriculum and support programmes for Year 11-13 learners, and the secondary-tertiary interface. This includes senior secondary curriculum, NCEA (including implementing the NCEA Review changes through the Review of Achievement Standards (RAS)) and secondary-tertiary programmes. About the function The Manager – Akonga Maori is responsible for providing the following: » High quality, strategic advice and thought leadership abilities to the Senior Manager, Akonga Maori, Secondary Tertiary education » Manager will lead a team who are responsible for the development of new curriculum and assessment resources » Manager will ensure the wellbeing of their team and the wider Akonga Maori team About the person We are seeking for an practiced person who will: » be agile » adept at handling ambiguity and complexity » be practiced in facilitating wananga to ensure kaupapa Maori is seamlessly woven into the workstreams they supervise » ideal candidates will take pride in producing high quality work, be a skilled facilitator and will be comfortable independently to achieve defined objectives » they will be sensitive to cultural values and have a good knowledge of the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and be able to articulate their knowledge of mana orite mo te matauranga Maori » they will have sharp interpersonal expertise and superior writing expertise » be comfortable working with a diverse range of stakeholders and Mena he matatau ki te reo Maori me ona tikanga, he wana ake tera. practice and Appropriate qualifications: » Candidates will ideally have a background in middle or senior leadership abilities functions within the NZ secondary sector » A deep knowledge of current pedagogical practice and NCEA related assessment practice is necessary Are you ready to make a difference?
