Exciting and compensateing communications function at leading health sector agency.
The Health Quality & Safety Commission leads and coordinates work across the health and discapability system to improve service safety and quality and therefore results for all who use these services in New Zealand. The Commission is a Crown entity with a board responsible to the Minister of Health.
The Commission is seeking a Senior Communications superstar who can hit the ground running and help deliver on an ambitious strategic communications work programme.
The Commission is charged with:
   » providing advice to the Minister of Health to drive improvement in quality and safety in health and discapability services
   » leading and coordinating improvements in safety and quality in health care
   » identifying data sets and key indicators to inform and monitor improvements in safety and quality
   » reporting publicly on the state of safety and quality, including performance against national indicators
   » disseminating knowledge on and advocating for safety and quality.
this function is a newly created permanent position to support the Commission with its expanded function focusing on the consumer and wh?nau voice programme of work and our commitment to Te Tiiriti o Waitangi. This work programme is part of the Government’s major health and discapability sector reforms.
This position will be co-located with the Partners in Care team within the Commission. This position will include engagement with consumers, wh?nau and communities and the health sector. You will lead the stakeholder and communications for this programme, which includes developing and implementing communications and engagement strategies, drafting various communications collateral such as articles, web content, and resources, manage campaigns and any media interest in the programme.
You will need a strong stakeholder engagement background and an knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and practice in partnering and engaging with M?ori and Pacific communities is preferred.
To be prosperous in this function:
   » Be a self-starter who can work with minimal supervision
   » Be able to plan and prioritise, and deliver tasks to a high standard and on time
   » Have a good knowledge of the Crown’s responsibilities to M?ori under Te Tiriti o Waitangi and of current social and economic issues for M?ori in Aotearoa/New Zealand
   » An knowledge of M?ori worldview concepts and norms and capability to apply these to your work
   » Some practice in the use of social media as part of an overall communications strategy
   » At least three years’ practice in a communications function at an intermediate level
   » Demonstrated capability to think clearly and with good judgement about communication issues
   » Solid knowledge of media relations
   » capability to multi-task, handle a busy and varied function, and to be calm under pressure
Other desirable expertise and abilities include:
   » practice in a health sector communications function or previous practice of working in a government communications function
   » An knowledge of the processes of government
   » practice using website content management systems
