Te wh?inga roa – The opportunity This is such an exciting and transformational time to join our newly formed Mataaho Aronui – M?ori Strategic results Group, responsible for providing WCC with a strategic M?ori voice and increased internal capcapability whilst raising its prominence within the organisation. We are building our future team, focussed on three key M?ori specific areas: » M?ori Strategic Partnerships » M?ori Strategic Advice » M?ori Success This will be the first step in supporting and enabling WCC to strengthen our relationships, presence and intelligence, so that M?ori are engaged proactively in Wellington’s future coupled with enabling the whole organisation to contribute to the effective implementation of our services, ensuring we are aligned to our wider goals for M?ori – excelling in our way we deliver for our community. The prime focus of this newly created position is to lead and inspire the team to create productive partnerships and significant relationships with M?ori. Key programmes of work will focus on improving the success of M?ori in the City, and will encompass the following: » Driving a work programme dedicated to significant partnerships with M?ori » Provision of high-level strategic support and guidance across Council to support the organisation to build partnerships with M?ori through-out our city » Ensuring engagement opportunities exist for M?ori to contribute to the future of the city Te tangata e tika ana – About you You will be a future thinker and a passionate people leader, with proven capability in building high performing teams responsible for delivering exceptional results. Our ideal candidate will have broad practice in driving organisational change and influencing strategic priorities and able to leverage intellectual horsepower and critical thinking for M?ori wellbeing and success. With relationships being key to the success of this function, you will have practice in establishing credible and enduring partnerships and will bring your existing relationships with M?ori and their practices. It’s important that you can work with stakeholders that often have different agendas or priority results and are able to take a holistic approach to managing relationships with M?ori. You will have a good knowledge of Te Ao M?ori and an excellent knowledge of M?ori Frameworks. practice in a public sector and/or local government context will be preferable.
