We are currently recruiting for practiced Registered Mental Health professionals to join our Earlier Mental Health Response Triage team, to provide urgent mental health support across Aotearoa with full-time and part-time opportunities available.

All the necessary Information technology equipment is provided to enable you to deliver your mental health triage skills across NZ.
About the function – Atu mo te mahi
This is a permanent position, with the potential of working in the house or in one of our call centres located in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. We provide a 24/7 service with four week rotating rosters that includes day, evening and overnight shifts.
This is an exciting function where no two calls are the same! You will be triaging incoming calls using the UK Triage tool, provide mental health information and advice to service users, whanau, police, ambulance DHB’s, school guidance counsellors, Ministry of Social Development, rural communities, and other front-line workers as part of the Expert Advice Service.
More specifically your function will involve the following:
   » Putting the service users needs first and respecting their confidentiality and privacy
   » Working closely with stakeholders like DHBs, police and ambulance
   » Following our clinical guidelines and using clinical support software
   » Giving advice that respects cultural needs and demonstrates cultural consciousness
   » Escalating issues and referring calls to other staff or health service providers where required
   » Working as part of the wider Earlier Mental Health Response team across New Zealand
About you – Pehea koe
Qualifications and practice:
   » Registered professional with current New Zealand practising certificate ideally with a post graduate certificate with no limitations in working in mental health
   » Minimum three to five years’ practice working in an Acute Mental Health setting i.e., Crisis team, liaison Psychiatry, In-patient Mental Health or Triage team
   » practice of delivering mental health triage and communicating plans
   » practice in undertaking risk assessments and formulating safe, clear risk management plans located on collaboration with the client
Skills and competence:
   » Able to build rapport with callers and deliver a recovery orientated, person centred approach to working with people in distress
   » Utilises collaborative support planning and promotion of the caller living as autonomously as possible in the community
   » Sound clinical judgement in the assessment and management of suicide and other risk
   » practice in the use of recognised therapeutic models and intervention strategies
   » capability to effectively deliver triage, assessment, and interventions, create support plans, provide referrals and follow up via the telephone
   » High level oral and written skills for communicating with service users, family/whanau, team members and other services such as DHB, police and ambulance
   » Good level of Information technology and telecommunication skills, capability to use and navigate multiple health applications quickly and effectively and access to high-speed internet at home
   » capability to effectively navigate the health sector and complete referrals to DHB, NGO and Primary Care services
   » Connecting in with our priority communities is essential and a high degree of cultural consciousness and empathy is required. Korero M?ori or talanoa in Pasifika languages is also highly desirable
