Tourism & Volunteer Guides Team Leader
We have a great new position for a Team Leader who can supervise our dedicated volunteer tour guides, and is able to drive revenue, and provide excellent manaakitanga through the creation and delivery of tourism and practice products.
Auckland Art Gallery Toi o T?makiis a cultural leader in Aotearoa New Zealand. Our purpose is to be a creative catalyst for art and ideas, offering transformational practices that strengthen and enrich communities.
Our vision is to be the home of art for T?maki Makaurau Auckland, its people, and visitors to our internationally recognised award-winning building.
The function is located primarily on site in the CBD, with some flexibility on start and finish times.
Predominantly a Monday - Friday function, there may be times over the year that you will supervise important work on a weekend or public holidays if required.
He k?rero m?u: About you
You will ideally have a background within the Arts and Culture space and have proven practice in the tourism market, especially with guided tours. You will bring your passion and knowledge into the function and thus share this with your volunteer guide team and significant departments you'll work alongside. An knowledge of the Art Gallery operating environment is advantageous, but not necessary.
We honour te Tiriti o Waitangi, accord value to te ao M?ori (the M?ori world), support kaitiakitanga and are responsive to the needs of M?ori so We are seeking for someone who can participate in initiatives to embed te ao M?ori into the way we do things.
In addition, We are seeking for some who has:
   » A qualification in Tourism, Customer Service, Arts & Culture or any similar or significant field, or the equivalent knowledge obtained through experience in your previous practical practice
   » Some practice working with revenue targets and goals, manage budgetary requirements and produce reports
   » The confidence to build relationships with external tourism partners and stakeholders
   » Previous practice recruiting and training tour guides is ideal
   » The capability to manage rosters, and ensure all volunteers are equipped, trained and continuously supported
   » Good working knowledge of MS office - advanced Word and intermediate excel.
   » The capability to listen, write and speak effectively to a wide-ranging audience and be able to produce up-to date content for tour guides
   » An interest in arts and culture from Aotearoa New Zealand, as well as internationally, and in uplifting the mana of artists and artworks through tours and tourism practices
   » capability to focus on multiple assignments and projects, and prioritise accordingly to ensure a high standard of deliveryCan work collaboratively across teams to create enriching and vibrant practices for our manuhiri
