About the function
This is an incredible opportunity to influence and contribute to innovation in the thriving world of game development in New Zealand. This newly created function will actively support the effective delivery of the New Zealand Game Development Sector Rebate (NZGDSR). New Zealand's game development sector is a small but fast-growing part of the wider tech sector, bringing in over $400 million in revenue in 2022, according to the New Zealand Game Developers Association's (NZGDA) latest survey.
Working closely with the Programme Director, the primary purpose of the position will be to supervise the day-to-day operations of the NZGDSR Scheme. The function will be responsible for ensuring effective workflow and systems for the rebate scheme. This includes managing administrative tasks, assessing applications, streamlining assessment workflows, creating essential fund documentation and ensuring accurate financial reporting. Through continuing research and real time sector feedback, the function will actively contribute to the development and refinement of policies, processes, guidelines, templates and manuals that will help shape the future of the NZGDSR and related initiatives.
Alongside this, the function will engage directly with NZGDSR candidates, providing pastoral care with a focus on building strong relationships with the sector, through highlighting and covering any issues. Furthermore, the function will communicate key information to senior stakeholders and support the Programme Director with workshop planning and execution.
This represents a genuine opportunity to propel innovation in New Zealand's game development industry, while also driving more equitable and accessible results.
About you
The most important thing here is that you will have practice in and be passionate about the New Zealand game industry. You will be someone who is eager to dive into the details, with a knack for building out strong assessment documents and processes. this function would likely suit someone from industry that has held positions pulling together and ensuring the smooth running of commercial environments.
The ideal candidate will bring;
   » Strong quantitative research and analytical expertise, with proven practice in providing reporting and recommendations.
   » Commercial nous, with an capability to understand costing, expenditure, budgets and resourcing.
   » An capability to communicate complex concepts to a variety of stakeholders at all levels in simple, approachable language.
   » A background in accounting, law or banking/finance would be beneficial.
   » A passion for the media industry, particularly the gaming sector.
   » Have 2+ years’ practice in a similar function.
   » An knowledge of the public sector environment.
   » practice in games production, product management or operations management would be advantageous, however, not essential.
