The University of Otago is a research-intensive university with a long history of excellence. The Faculty of Law was established in 1873 as the first law school in New Zealand and is a leader in legal research within New Zealand. The function The Law Faculty is committed to high quality legal education and scholarship and is seeking to make an appointment at any level from Lecturer to Professor level in Equity and Trusts. This is a full-time, permanent (confirmation path) position. The scholar appointed to this position will undertake teaching and research in Equity and Trusts at Otago. The appointee will be expected to teach at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and foster postgraduate research at Masters and PhD level. In addition, the appointee will be expected to maintain an excellent international research profile and to contribute to the development of the Faculty of Law, the Division of Humanities, and the wider University. The appointee will be supported through an extremely collegial academic environment, an active and dynamic research culture, and by efficient professional services acracoss the University. Skills and practice candidates for this position should be able to demonstrate: » A good or developing record of research publication in Equity and Trusts Law. » Demonstrated practice or potential of teaching Equity or Trusts Law in a University setting. Required for appointment at professorial level: » A distinguished record of research publication in Equity and Trusts Law or related fields. » practice of teaching Equity or Trusts Law or related subjects in a university setting. » practice of supervising postgraduate research theses. » Evidence of international standing in the applicant's field of particular skills. expertise in and practice of kaupapa M?ori, tikanga M?ori, how the law affects M?ori people, and facility in te reo M?ori will be an advantage. While the University has a strong preference for making an appointment at the level of Professor, Information technology is open to making an appointment to the level of Associate Professor, Senior Lecturer or Lecturer if that rank is appropriate for the most appropriate candidate.
