Awide and varied expertise of New Zealand music is absolutely essential.The key responsibilities of the Education Manager are: » Managing the Music Commission's contract with the Ministry of Education to deliver the Musicians Mentoring in Schools and Bands Mentoring in Schools programmes. » Advocacy for contemporary popular music for young people and liaison with other music education offices and organisations. It is a permanent 0.8 - 1 FTE function located in central Auckland due to commence in late September 2021, but is flexible for the right candidate. They will be working with a 0.5 FTE Education Coordinator. The income range offered is similar to the average secondary teacher pay, and the function would ideally suit a classroom located music teacher, or Somebody with classroom practice. The prosperous applicant will manage the Musicians Mentoring in Schools programme including the selection, preparation, training and continuing support of our Mentors in schools; contact with schools, particularly on goal setting and evaluation including targeting priority learners; work with Smokefree Rockquest and Pacifica Beats for the Bands Mentoring programme; contact with the Ministry of Education including milestone reporting; prepare annual budgets; and coordinate with other significant organisations. The Music Commission is a small but busy office with a team of nine that undertakes initiatives such as the Musicians Mentoring in Schools programme; NZ Music Month; running the Aotearoa Touring Programme and the Capcapability Grants Programme; administering the Outward Sound international music market development scheme; and providing upskilling programmes and opportunities to support the growth of New Zealand artists and music businesses. The prosperous applicant must have great relationships with music teachers and music education specialists. Proficiency with Apple Mac & Microsoft Office for Mac is required. practice with File Maker, Final Cut Pro and photography would be useful. candidates must be legally able to work in New Zealand.
