ELSA delivers and maintains critical services to support responsive learner pathways from early childhood into further education, training, the workforce and society. ELSA performs a crucial function working between the strategy and policy teams, and the sector facing functions. The Secondary Tertiary team is responsible for operational policy, curriculum and support programmes for Year 11-13 learners, and the secondary-tertiary interface. This includes senior secondary curriculum, NCEA (including implementing the NCEA Review changes through the Review of Achievement Standards (RAS) and secondary-tertiary programmes. Lead Secondary Advisor functions As the Ministry develops NCEA Level 2 and 3 assessment material through RAS, the Senior Secondary team needs to bring on a number of new leaders to join our existing team. Lead Secondary Advisors (LSAs) will be responsible for leading several Subject Expert Groups (SEGs) to develop the complete suite of NCEA products between August 2021 and January 2024. LSAs also contribute to designing and developing curriculum, teaching and learning initiatives and products for senior secondary education to support a smooth transition to further education and the world of work. They provide savvy advice on implementing policy, from design through to implementation. They ensure a deliberate focus on student achievement is maintained by providing thought leadership abilities and guidance in senior secondary education. This is an exciting opportunity for passionate teachers to play a lead function in this transformational project as part of a vibrant team. significant raining for RAS will be provided as well as continuing professional development. About the person We are seeking for practiced leaders who have skills in pedagogical practice within the secondary sector and who understand assessment methodology. practice with NCEA and a thorough knowledge of the NCEA Change Package will be important for this function. The person we seek will be agile and adept at handling ambiguity and complexity. Our ideal candidate will be a skilled facilitator and will be comfortable working independently to achieve defined objectives. The person will be sensitive to cultural values, have a good knowledge of the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and be able to articulate their knowledge of mana ?rite mo te m?tauranga M?ori. They will have sharp interpersonal skills, superior writing skills, and will be comfortable working with a diverse range of stakeholders and representing the Ministry. The position is primarily Wellington located however Information technology may be possible to negotiate one or two days in most weeks to work in the house for people who normally reside outside Wellington. practice and Appropriate qualifications: » Candidates will be practiced middle or senior leaders in secondary school (e.g. HOD or adjunct HOD, Dean, AP or DP) or bring a comparable set of skills and practice in the secondary education sector » Candidates will have current or recent teacher registration This is a unique opportunity to work closely with sector experts to redevelop achievement standard resources and provide support for the sector to implement these changes.
