Background
This organisation operates in a stakeholder advisory and "partnership" capacity for applications under the RMA and Unitary Plan for any development across a wide area of the Auckland and surrounding region. An increase in applications means that We are seeking for an expert in this area to take on the excess workload so applications can be processed in a timely manner.
The function
Primarily, your work will involve liaison with Councils, Government agencies, and stakeholder Communities to ensure cultural values are included in all decisions, in order to protect the environment affected by the applications. You will be handling a specific portfolio of work and also contributing to other applications as they are received.
Whilst we're after someone who can take a leadership abilities approach, we also need someone happy to do hands-on work, although you will have good support in the process. You'll need to have had practice in iwi management, be familiar with all the significant legislation, and ensure that all submissions are managed in a timely fashion. Further, you'll also be the key point of contact for external stakeholders for the applications you will be project managing. Familiarity with funding and cultural impact assessments is an imperative.
Qualifications
It is preferred that you will have professional qualifications in a significant field, and practice within local Government, whether that be internally or in a different capacity. But essential would be practice in environmental planning and/or management, cutural or heritage activities, conservation, or a similar discipline.
The Opportunity
This is a great opportunity to be involved in an external function working with Councils and satisfying stakeholder requirements. Whilst this is a contract opportunity, there may be the opportunity for involvement longer term due to the demands and workload looming.
