The National Hauora Coalition (NHC) is a M?ori owned organisation that exists to deliver better health and social results for wh?nau. NHC uses innovative strategies and deliver programmes that give effect to the shared transformative kaupapa of mana wh?nau, wh?nau ora, and prosperous wh?nau living well.
NHC is a social impact investor that operates clinical/social interventions/programmes across various localities, in metropolitan, regional, provincial, and national settings. A leader in the health sector they have built a reputation as thought leaders and advocates for all M?ori through mana wh?nau, wh?nau ora kaupapa and in the use of science and engineering design principles to develop social technologies – wh?nau ora outcome frameworks, commissioning arrangements; measurement tools.
With the latest health reforms, NHC will continue to lead the sector and be stewards of an enhanced kaupapa that benefits wh?nau in an ever-changing environment.
Te ?hua o Te T?runga – The nature of the position
The intent of the Chief Executive in this new world is to provide executive oversight, vision, leadership abilities, and line accountcapability in alignment with the new health reforms and the formation of M?ori Health Authority (MHA) and Health NZ (HNZ).
this function is a unique opportunity for you to effectively navigate uncharted waters and shepherd in a new era of opportunity for M?ori wh?nau as you positively lead the largest M?ori Health provider into a new era. Naturally, you will need to be agile, adept and focused on repositioning NHC from one operating model to the next.
As a proven leader, you will embrace new opportunities as they appear out of the health reforms to enable NHC to continue to deliver a full range of health and social services across Aotearoa, whilst ensuring wh?nau centred kaupapa is at the heart, and the focus is firmly centred on ensuring wh?nau voices and aspirations are heard.
Efficiently and effectively managing NHC business operations and future strategic goals, you will be delivering wh?nau centric models to enable organisation growth and prosperity.
Furthermore, you will maintain strategic oversight of the financial vicapability across the organisations activities, driving sustainable development and long-term success.
You will have the capability to design and implement business plans and strategies that bring to life the strategic objectives as set by the board, that naturally flow down into organisational plans, easily understood by others, tikanga values driven, and support the delivery of services and plans that impact wh?nau now and in the future.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, you will lead and figurehead the kaupapa and organisation with passion, charisma, mana, and humility; leading and developing a culture of high performance where people are engaged, enabled, and enthused to do their best, every day. You will have a reputation as a ?connector of people' feeling comfortable networking with others and organisations to strengthen NHC's position across the health system as a leader in its field.
Ensuring appropriate financial and accounting internal controls are employed to execute financial competency within financial delegations, you will lead a system that ensures services and resources are designed and delivered to meet reform aspirations. Your function will call for you to provide specialist advice and guidance to the Board through your capability to analyse complex information with a thorough knowledge of significant legislation and data analytics.
You will take responsibility for ensuring tikanga is honoured, respected, and practiced as an intrinsic element across every area of the business.

We are pursuing an practiced organisational leader who has led organisations in dynamic contexts, an practiced professional who has aligned an organisation alongside the board and its context and has had previous practice influencing other senior leaders.
Skills knowledge and practice required for application will include ;
   » A comprehensive knowledge of current models of care, research, and practice within the health sector.
   » Proven track record of enabling and implementing sustainable, transformational change through dynamic, visible and creative leadership abilities.
   » Significant strategic planning, integration, and performance management.
   » Clear knowledge of the complexities of sound corporate management and governance and broad practice working with a Board.
   » broad leadership abilities and management practice in complex organisations with a large, distributed multidisciplinary workforce.
   » Hands on leadership abilities management, judgement, communication, and relationship management skills.
   » Comprehensive practice managing commercial interests of an organisation, with skills in the development and maintenance of key funding relationships.
   » Comprehensive knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and frameworks, particularly as they apply in healthcare and skilled in the past establishment of building strategic level relationships with hap? and iwi. Knowledge of te reo me ?na tikanga and the confidence to ?stand tall' in your whakapapa.
   » Skilled in shaping and influencing work force change, process improvement and development.
   » A proven track record of managing and leveraging organisational information and system capcapability and investing wisely in future innovations and technologies.
   » Skilled networker and demonstrated capability to build and retain credibility with other key leaders – both clinical and management, broad practice working prosperously with key stakeholders such as iwi, hap?, primary/community, professional bodies, media, and cross agency partners.
   » Practised financial management skills, skilled in budgetary process and budgetary management, practice in the evaluation of the financial vicapability of services.
   » Highly practiced, balanced outlook that lends itself to fast, pragmatic decisions and actions located on sound judgement.
