Plus 8% Holiday)Job location: Dargaville Region: Northland & Bay of Islands practice: No practice Necessary Listing Added: 15/09/2021 We are seeking for two backpackers who either have practice operating tractors or wish to receive training on how to operate a tractor. We are seeking for individuals who wish to start work from mid to late October and then continue up until mid-December. We operate a sweet potato farm near Dargaville and have operator functions going that involve operating a tractor irrigating the crop and another that involves a tractor cultivating soil. One of the machines you will be operating will be a modern 100-130 hp John Deere or Case tractor and the other is a smaller John Deere or Kubota tractor. To be appropriate for the function you will need to have a can do and a safety conscious attitude as you are operating machinery around people. If you don't have practice operating a tractor is obviously advantageous you are able to operate other vehicles, such as a car. For the person who ends up operating the irrigation tractor it’s also beneficial that you can back a trailer. We endeavour to work 5 plus days a week at least 8 hours a day. Preference will be given to those who can commit to the full period. You will need a current visa, IRD number and NZ bank account. If you have a partner, it’s also possible, we could offer them a function working in one of the other jobs we have. In your time off there is plenty to do and see. New Zealand's longest driveable beach is just a 15 minutes drive away. Inviting for fishing, surfing and exploring. The eastcoast and Whangarei is a 45 minutes drive, the same as the Kai Iwi Lakes, where you can go swimming, kayaking, walking or just hanging out, as well as the Waipoua Forest were you can meet the legendary tree giant Tane Mahuta. The pay rate is $21 plus per hour depending on your practice and capability. If you are a competent operator, you will get more than the base rate, also if you are a person who picks up the job rapidly and becomes competent you will receive a pay rise part way through the season. You will get 8% holiday pay on top of this number and will also get paid for the statutory holidays during your employment period.
