As New Zealand's national opera company, we are working to transform the world of our audience through an practice of opera that connects, engages and empowers reflection on our human condition. We have a strong strategic vision and are excited to be able to provide the opportunity for an practiced individual to join our team as Senior Development Manager and contribute to the future of opera in Aotearoa.

Reporting to the Director Marketing & Development, The Senior Development Manager is responsible for conceiving and managing all aspects of New Zealand Opera's (NZ Opera) development strategy. This includes ensuring that earnings from individuals, local authorities, trusts, foundations and embassies is maximised and a specific focus on well managed relationships to enable NZ Opera to achieve its Purpose, Vision, Values and Goals. The prosperous applicant will need to be a team player and an excellent communicator with broad fundraising knowledge.

We are seeking for a person who can lead the Development Strategy through:
   » Developing and implementing strategies for increasing revenue for NZ Opera from benefactors, trusts, foundations and local authorities
   » Developing and maintaining high-quality enduring relationships across New Zealand, especially Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington communities(this function may involve some domestic travel).
   » Managing applications and reporting to Government, Local Authority, foundation and trust funding, ensuring deadlines are met.
   » Working with the Development Executive to manage fundraising events, season hostings and other company related events.
   » Managing existing corporate relationships as well as investigating new partnership opportunities.
We are seeking for a candidate with practice in the following areas:
   » Knowledge of the principles of development
   » Knowledge of the fundraising environment in New Zealand
   » At least five years proven success of working as a fundraiser preferably in a cultural or not for profit organisation
   » A good appreciation and knowledge of opera and/or the performing arts in New Zealand
   » practice of Tessitura or other similar CRM system
   » A basic knowledge and acknowledgement of the importance of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, Te Ao M?ori and te reo M?ori is a welcome advantage for the position

This is a full-time, 40 hour per week function located in our Auckland office and includes some weekend and evening work.
