The function

This is an exciting and new opportunity to join the newly established Emissions Programme Office, which has been set up to help the transport system deliver on the Government’s goal of net zero emissions by 2050. Developing and implementing innovative and accessible high-quality reports or progress reports that help decision makers know whether we are on track to deliver against the Emissions Reduction Plan (ERP). You will closely with the Manager to ensure the company is coordinated and on track to deliver the portfolio of transport initiatives within the ERP. This means helping to establish and embed robust systems, processes, and governance arrangements, and using your problem solving and influencing expertise to identify and manage risks across the programme.

What you’ll bring to the function

• practice in, or knowledge of, economic and financial analysis
• practice working with wide variety of leaders and senior staff
• Demonstrated capability to build strong relationships, engage with, and influence senior leaders
• Excellent communication expertise, both written and oral including excellent listening expertise
• practice in the public sector
• capability to competently evaluate financial data and present key information
• capability to articulate concepts and analyse the benefits and costs of proposed options
• capability to identify risks as well as options to mitigate risks
• capability to use critical thinking and analytical capability
• knowledge of the commercial and public sector environments
