The Employer :
Our client is one of the leading private surgical facilities in New Zealand, with 22 operating theatres, a high dependency unit and an intensive care unit. They have over 600 staff in New Zealand.
function:
   » The Patient Flow Manager is a key function for the delivery of shared services to the hospital’s clinical operations.
The Patient Flow Manager will consult, coordinate the patient’s journey through their hospital journey.
   » The PFM will monitor and evaluate theatre sessions to ensure they are utilised to the agreed capacity and assist in patient flow for elective surgery demand.
Responsibilities will include:
   » Reporting to the Hospital Manager you will be responsible for:
   » Proactively and effectively manages resources to meet workload demands and business requirements, including but not limited to staffing, skill mix, equipment and consumables
   » Recommends and introduces change in processes or innovation to minimise cost and wastage of resources Manages budget within allocation and reports any variances to the Hospital Manager on a monthly basis
   » Provides employees with regular feedback on performance, undertakes annual performance appraisals, identifies individual training and development needs
   » Models effective and positive communication, acts as an advocate for the team and patients
   » Provides professional clinical leadership abilities to area/department
   » Collaborates with other key leadership abilities functions to support the achievement of strategic, financial and operational goals
   » Develops and maintains positive working relationships with key customers and addresses issues promptly and in a proactive manner.
   » Develops and maintains constructive and positive working relationships with managers of other departments to ensure consistency of service.
   » Ensures patient pre admission systems and process meet the needs of the business, specialist and patients. Coordinates the overseas patient admission process.
   » Monitor, evaluate and improve theatre utilisation via template management to meet activity targets set by the hospital
   » Create opportunities within existing resources to support utilisation increase initiatives such as Contract Casework and demonstrate the creativity and savvy that is critical to financial and operational success.
   » Assist with coordinating the theatre booking process to achieve timely publication of an accurate theatre list. Session planning during low activity periods to ensure sessions built as per bed plan.
   » Actively participates and provides support as appropriate to the key strategic projects
   » Review performance against annual plans.
You:
   » Holds NZ Nursing Council Registration
   » Post graduate qualification in nursing or health management or equivalent practice
   » Minimum five years in surgical or perioperative nursing or nursing education plus appropriate practice at a senior/management level.
   » Management practice leading teams
   » Highly developed interpersonal expertise and demonstrated capability to develop and manage multidisciplinary teams Competent computer expertise in MS Office applications
   » practice using TrendCare, TrakCare or similar EMR system.
   » practice with health analytics
   » Health and Discapability Code of Consumer Rights 1996
   » Adheres to the Privacy Act 1993 and Health Information Privacy Code 1994, and subsequent amendments in regard to the non- disclosure of information
   » Understands health care needs to balance the needs of patient, specialist, funder staff and owner
   » Proven practice as a strategic operational leader.
   » Proven capability to establish service business plans and lead the team through transformational change Demonstrated commitment to providing high level of customer service consistent with
   » Organisational values and key focus areas
   » Proven capability to form strong working relationships with internal stakeholders
   » Understands the commercial realities of being a private health care provider
   » Relationship development expertise
