About Learning Support
Learning Support is an important part of Te Mahau (the regional face of the Ministry) and provides support to children and young people with learning needs. They provide children, their whanau, schools and services with the skills, programmes and resources needed to enable our children and young people to succeed. Te Mahau is modernising and improving learning support so it’s easier to access, child-focused, flexible and better integrated with other social services and we need someone to lead this change.
About this function
The Manager Learning Support will coordinate access to child-focused services to ensure all children achieve educational success. They will work with a diverse range of groups including parents, educators, Communities of Learning – K?hui Ako, health professionals and other agencies to ensure that the right support is delivered at the right time to better support children and young people in need to achieve their educational goals. We are pursuing an innovator that is committed to our inclusive approach to education and to achieving the best results for our children every day.
The prosperous applicant will be a people leader and will have a proven track record in managing complex relationships through change. They will have broad practice in managing service delivery from working in either the public, private, social or education sectors. this function is located in our Lower Hutt Office but will require travel around the Greater Wellington region.
About you
We seek dynamic senior leaders who are committed to our inclusive approach to education, and to put the best results for our children at the forefront of their work every day. An capability to apply a strategic and systems located approach and excellent operational skills will ensure success in this function.
Your track record of managing complex relationships through change and managing service delivery from a range of providers, including independent organisations, will equip you to work with others to develop a coherent, accessible system of support for children and young people.
You will also offer the following:
   » practice in leadership abilities and leading change. A postgraduate qualification could be an advantage
   » practice in working in a large Government organisation or the education sector in a leadership abilities function
   » Skills in leading and motivating others, and are able to challenge, facilitate, supervise and coach others to increase capacity for excellence, and where necessary, change practice
   » capability to developed networks, credibility and relationships with individuals and organisations in the education sector including our M?ori partners
