Within the College of Creative Arts is Whiti o Rehua School of Art, which has an international reputation for innovation and creativity in contemporary art, photography, matauranga Maori, visual and material culture. As Technical Demonstrator you'll provide demonstration of 3-D wood and metal processes, casting, software, workshop and studio practices to students and staff within the Toioho ki Apiti - Maori Visual Arts Programme, as well as providing general technical support tasks, as required. This is a permanent part-time (0.5 FTE) position is located on our Turitea Campus, Manawatu. To be considered, you'll need the following: » A tertiary qualification in related subject areas or equivalent industry practice » practice in art installation » practice in working with different painting, photography, and art techniques » Basic wood workshop practice » expertiseable in Adobe photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign (desirable) » practice of working in a tertiary institution (desirable) General tasks include the following: » Providing support for academic staff within the studio and laboratory teaching environment » Technically support undergraduate and postgraduate students graduating exhibitions » Provide technical demonstration of 3-D wood and metal processes and casting » Maintenance of the Toioho ki Apiti technical facilities including the computer lab and workshop We're looking for someone who has well developed interpersonal and communication expertise; you'll be working closely with staff and students.
