Farm adjunct - Permanent Position:Job description:Farm adjunct - Permanent PositionPayment: Accommodation & Paid ($55000)Job location: Milton Region: Dunedin/Invercargill practice: Limited practice Necessary Listing Added: 24/09/2021 Due to a staff injury, We are seeking for a Farm adjunct to join our tight-knit team of four. This is a permanent position with an immediate start for a single person willing to share accommodation. Our farm is located a couple of minutes from Milton, in between Balclutha and Dunedin. Information technology is mostly flat, easy to run, and has no irrigation. We milk 800 cows through a 40 ASH shed and the herd is off-farm in between dry off and calving each winter. JOB DESCRIPTION For the position available, we are open to any level of practice as we are happy to train you. Primarily the job would be focused on milking cows, identifying cows that need to be drafted to treat animal health issues, and ensuring the cowshed runs smoothly. We also require you to be able to read and communicate in English clearly and be confident riding both two- and four-wheel bikes. If you have tractor driving expertise, that would be a bonus. Overall, our team is energetic, drama-free, and values hard work, efficiency, and honest communication. THE PACKAGE Our roster is a 9-3 roster but is adjusted to a 5-1 over the busiest six weeks of calving (we are past that now). The average hours are 10-12/day during calving, 8-10/day remainder of the season, and 4-6/day over the dry-off period. Year-round, we aim to be finished work and in our houses by 5:30 pm and after Christmas, this is even earlier at 4:30/5 pm. The income starts at $55000 but is negotiable located upon your practice with an hourly-rate option. The full package also includes your accommodation of a newly renovated 3-bedroom shared house with a brilliant wood fire. If you want to further your career in the dairy industry, we offer training on and off-farm and there are another two cowsheds run by the same owners, providing lots of opportunities to step up.
