Their smaller size enables them to personalise their service for growers, they expect to have put through between 2.2 and 2.4 million trays this season. The team all get on well, it’s a work hard play hard culture when the season is in full swing, everyone is appreciated and compensateed for their hard work and commitment. The Job We are seeking for an practiced Operations Manager to lead the Packhouse into next season. The timing is perfect (thanks to the current guy stepping back). The first job is planning capex budgets due Aug/Sept. The packhouse has plans underway for a new coolstore so the incumbent will be involved with project managing the new build – the growth is exciting. And then once the season kicks into gear March 2022, it’s all hands on deck. The essentials of the function include: » Managing the entire operations of the packhouse. » People management; 5 direct reports and 12 in the team (larger volumes during the season), maximising performance, their placement in the packhouse and workflow. » Machinery; ensuring all machinery is up to standard, maintenance is completed. Post season review with recommendations for improvement/upgrade. » Involved with harvest/packing planning for the season. » Packaging; budgeting volume, ordering and monitoring. » Financial; working with the GM to determine budgets and regular reviews on all throughput in comparison to costs against budget. » Operational efficiency; continual improvement, optimising performance and efficiency of the workflow and output of the packhouse. In season the hours are 6am – 5.30pm (March – June), out of season its 8am – 5.30pm. The function comes with a Nissan Nivara ute and phone. You’ll always be thinking ahead, with an organised proactive style, attention to detail, particularly with costings and budget are crucial. You’ll definitely be a strong people leader; we are keen to hear about how you’ve built trust with your team and as a result empowered your people to execute for you and the business.
