About our group and team Te Puna Kaupapahere is the Ministry’s policy group and focuses with across a whole-of-system lens covering early learning, compulsory schooling, and tertiary. This also includes M?ori medium, te reo M?ori, Pacific and Learning Support We provide advice to enable an education system which contributes to the expertise and knowledge needed by people for social, cultural, economic and environmental wellbeing. We develop policy about vocational expertise, access pathways, international education and student financial support. We also manage the Ministry’s international engagements and cooperation agreements. About this function Sitting in the Office of the Deputy Secretary, the Business Support team provides proactive support to Tier 2, 3 and 4 managers, from recruitment as sistance, machinery of government management, inbox and calendar oversight, logistics and procurement, all of the supports that help a busy policy group operate and meet the demands of its work programme. Business Support Manager provides day to day staff management across the Support team and ensures they have the structure, expertise, and tools to support the wider group achieve its overarching priorities and goals. You will be expected to develop strong collaborative relationships with your peers to understand and manage the demands they have of the support team and ensure these expectations are realistic, clearly communicated, being delivered and when issues arise, manage both ways to a prosperous conclusion. You will enjoy taking a hands-on function in supporting the growth of the team, by ensuring they are well supported in identifying and achieving their performance and developmental goals. About you You will be an practiced people leader, who is proactive and has excellent communication expertise and knows how to operate effective administrative support. You will also have the following expertise, attributes and practice: » Strong staff and stakeholder relationship management expertise » A sound knowledge of administrative systems and procedures; » The capability to understand and apply the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and tangata whenuatanga » Excellent written and oral communication expertise » An capability to multi-task and to meet tight deadlines, in what can be a high-pressure environment » consciousness of Ministerial processes would be an advantage We are seeking for a person who demonstrates initiative, is professional, enthusiastic and diligent.
