About our group and team
The Government Executive and Ministerials (GEMS) team provides the confidence, connections and skills to allow quality information and advice to flow where Information technology is needed. We work at the interface between the Ministry, Ministers’ offices and Parliament, and our team includes the Portfolio Private Secretaries in our Ministers’ offices.
Our work helps to ensure the Ministry is a transparent, accessible and accountable organisation that provides a high-quality service to the Government.
About this function
The prosperous applicant will be responsible for a team of professionals that manage the flow of information to and from our Ministers and Parliamentary select committees, and are the central point of contact for engagement with the Office of the Ombudsman.
The team additionally provides support in the preparation of responses to oral and written parliamentary questions, and internal and external reporting relating to the functions of GEMS.
About you
To be prosperous in the function, you will be passionate about the Machinery of Government, enjoy working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, havewell-developed relationship management skills, and lead with purpose.
The prosperous applicant will work with all groups across the Ministry and several Parliamentary offices. You can often be called upon at short notice to provide support to senior leaders on time-critical, sensitive matters, so confidence andwell-developed problem-solving skills are a must.
To be effective in the function and ensure your team is prosperous, you will need to be equally comfortable communicating in person and through quality written advice. We’ll also count on you to contribute to the wider team and Ministry objectives using a diverse and inclusive approach.
