Two Year Fixed-Term Opportunity
To fulfil our commitment to a diverse legal academy and profession, the Faculty is seeking to recruit an aspiring or established Pasifika legal academic to take a lead function in supporting the Pasifika student body and contribute to our high-quality research and teaching.
We are pursuing candidates with strong connections to Pasifika communities and an in-depth knowledge of Pasifika culture, to provide support, advice and mentorship to students all over their journey with us.
You will be committed to undertaking research-informed teaching, providing administrative and managerial leadership abilities to academic and pastoral initiatives for Pasifika law students, and contributing to undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Pacific-themed law and core law courses.
The Faculty of Law invites applications from aspiring Pasifika legal academics for the position of Susuga Faiako/Professional Teaching Fellow. This is a two year fixed term position.

The prosperous candidate will have a undergraduate law degree (LLB or equivalent) and ideally a commitment to pursue further academic qualifications. A postgraduate degree in Law or another discipline will be advantageous. The Faculty may provide support for candidates who wish to study towards a postgraduate degree in Law.
You will have a proven aptitude for supporting Pasifika people and deep knowledge of Pacific cultural values. This could include practice in providing culturally appropriate education, pastoral care and assistance to Pasifika peoples, participation and service in Pasifika communities in local community programmes, faith communities and associations, and demonstrated leadership abilities and practice representing their respective Pacific families and communities in local, national and international contexts. Recognition will be given to the impact active community service and family support functions can have on personal professional achievements.
We are seeking for someone who is highly motivated by mentoring and making a difference within the Pasifika student community and helping our students contribute to a future legal landscape, underpinned by a deeper knowledge and connectedness to Pasifika people, culture and values. You will be given the opportunity to pursue your professional goals and enhance your areas of skills. The Faculty is committed to providing the chosen candidate with the full support required to succeed in this function relative to their aspirations and academic level.
Less than full-time hours and job-sharing arrangements may be available by negotiation.
