Our 12 clinical teams and support services are located across contact centres in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, and from their homes across Aotearoa. Through our 30+ services we connected with over 2.7 million individual people last year (to 30 June 2022). Job description Whakarongorau Aotearoa has the privilege of running free to the public, virtual health, mental health, and social services – available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We want to give everyone in Aotearoa the opportunity for wellness. This is a great opportunity to work within the Family and Sexual Harm team and help support our community. In return, we will provide guidance and coaching to support you in your continuing professional development and a pro rata contribution to annual registration with professional body. Atu mo te mahi – About the function The Family and Sexual Harm Professional function provides advice and support to service users and their whanau including but not limited to Shine Helpline, Family Violence Information Line, Elder Abuse Response Service, NZDF4U Helpline, Family Services and Directory Helpline and Safe to Talk/Korero mai ka ora. Lines are operational seven days a week, including Public Holidays. You will be working shifts from 7am through to 11pm; full-time or part-time candidates are welcome to apply. We are also committed to ensuring our services are responsive to the needs of Maori and would encourage applications from those with practice in Kaupapa Maori and/or in applying Maori models of care in their practice. this function is located in either our Auckland or Christchurch offices however we are open to discussing Work in the house or hybrid options for suitably practiced candidates. Your work will involve the following aspects: » Risk assessment followed by appropriate safety planning and referrals » Providing non-judgemental support and psycho-education within the context of family and sexual harm » Engaging with callers using multiple communication channels such as phone, email, SMS and online chat » Supporting callers when they are experiencing a high-risk situation » Communicating with external agencies (including emergency services) » Accurate documentation of notes and significant information on various databases » Supporting other team members in the Family and Sexual Harm Team during risk calls/risk engagements and providing de-briefing support where needed » Participating in quality improvement and service developments to ensure effective and safe service delivery » Supporting your Family and Sexual Harm Colleagues » Required to be able to answer calls, emails, SMS and online chat for our other Family and Sexual harm services Qualifications Pehea koe – About you: » Qualifications in a significant field e.g. social work, psychology, counselling, addictions, nursing, psychotherapy, occupational therapy » Registration with one of the following professional bodies: » Aotearoa New Zealand Association of Social Workers (ANZASW) » New Zealand Association of Counsellors / Te Roopu Kaiwhiriwhi Aotearoa (NZAC) » Addictions Practitioners’ Association Aotearoa New Zealand (DAPAANZ) » New Zealand Christian Counsellors Association (NZCCA) » For Safe to Talk, three plus years’ practice in a Trauma, Sexual Violence and Mental Health function We are pursuing candidates with the following: » A sound knowledge of Family Violence and Sexual Harm » practice in supporting Maori with family violence or sexual harm » A knowledge and application of kaupapa Maori and/or in applying Maori models of care » We would prefer candidates who are able to converse in Te Reo Maori however this is not essential » Knowledge of the Power and Control Wheel and the impact of abuse » Able to identify risk and develop safety plans » An knowledge of the following court orders and processes, e.g. protection orders, parenting orders and trespass notices » Excellent computer and administrative expertise as you are required to multi-task efficiently and manage multiple channels of communication » All candidates will be required to pass significant NZ Police vetting as per the Vulnerable Children’s Act 2014 Additional information Otatou uara – Our values Our values underpin all we do, and how we do it.
