The function works closely with the National, Christchurch, Dunedin and regional publicists. The function has a managery element. This is a full time contract position for the period 23 August to 26 November and is located in Wellington.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES / NG? TAKOHANGA » Support the National Publicist in the development of the national publicity plan for the 2021 film festival » Work with New Zealand filmmakers and film publicists to develop media plans for New Zealand films (this is shared with the National Publicist) » Work with the National Publicist to deliver publicity plans for the Incredibly Strange, Square Eyes and Animation NOW! programmes » Support the National Publicist in the writing and distribution of media releases in conformity with national publicity plan and specific film and programme publicity plans » Ensure sponsors/partners are credited in significant media releases as required » Identify angles and interview opportunities for Wellington media to gain coverage of films within the festival » Support the National Publicist in pitching interviews to Wellington-located national media » Organise interviews for Wellington media with filmmakers via phone, Skype and in-person » Distribute screeners to media as required in consultation with National Publicist » In consultation with the Communications and Marketing Manager, the National Publicist and, where significant, the Programming Team, arrange selected media screenings in Wellington » Update and maintain NZIFF's media database » Identify additional opportunities to gain promotion of the 2021 film festival with Wellington media » Support Audience Development Manager by identifying audience development opportunities in Wellington » Coordinate promotional opportunities with Wellington media and other organisations » Provide additional copy/editorial for use by wider Promotions Team including but not limited to, advertorial, website, social media, audience development and EDMs » Assist with collating material for programme catalogues as required » Assist with proofing the programme catalogues as required » In consultation with the Communications and Marketing Manager and National Publicist, compile guest lists for events » Assist with hosting events in Wellington » Devise media and communications plans for events during NZIFF 2021 including events photography/videography plan » Manage photographer/videographer at events and use of images on website and for media » Contribute to identifying appropriate Moderators for Q&As in Wellington » Assist with delivery of Q&As and other filmmaker events (masterclasses) as required including arranging filming/recording » Develop media interview plans for visiting filmmakers and escort filmmakers to media interviews » Assist with hosting visiting filmmakers » Contribute to content for NZIFF's social media channels during the 2021 film festival » supervise Wellington Intern and ensure he/she is gaining NZIFF practice and meeting objectives » Play a senior function in ensuring the smooth running of the film festival in Wellington REQUIRED expertise AND practice / NG? PUKENGA » Excellent writing expertise and broad practice writing media releases » broad expertise of media in New Zealand, and particularly in Wellington, and established media contacts and relationships. practice with film media is an advantage » Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication expertise including confidence in cold calling media » capability to identify media angles and pitch effectively to media » Excellent computer literacy including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook and practice using project management, scheduling or CRM software/platforms » Strong research expertise » Highly organised with excellent attention to detail » practice working autonomously and as part of a team » Able to work effectively under pressure » Positive and outgoing attitude » A strong interest in, and expertise of, film industry and culture is an advantage » Full, clean drivers licence How to submit the application: Please first request the full job description and further application details by emailingrecruitment@nziff.co.nz.
