Arts, culture and creativity are important to Wellingtonians and give us a strong sense of identity. Council has adopted the Aho Tini 2030 – Arts, Culture and Creativity Strategy that is designed to further support the arts and the artists in the Capital. The strategy aims to build on our rich cultural traditions and identity of our capital city – Information technology focuses on access and inclusion in the arts sector, higher visibility of Ng? Toi M?ori, the success of the city’s artists and arts organisations, and activating the city’s places and spaces.
Part of the Creative Capital leadership abilities team, the City Events Manager is responsible for leading the development and delivery of a creative sector events strategy and programme that gives effect to Aho Tini goals and priorities. You will provide an overall strategic framework for events programming and delivery that promotes creativity, inclusion, and accessibility; drives economic growth, and contributes to the city’s social and cultural wellbeing. You’ll love leading people and will have a core focus on harnessing and nurturing the expertise, passion and potential of your team, to create and deliver a high-quality events programme.
In short, We are seeking for a senior leader who can inspire, lead and collaborate internally and externally, and build enduring partnerships across communities, with mana whenua and arts and culture sector partners.
We are seeking for Somebody with significant practice as a creative sector producer with significant sector networks and relationships. You will have demonstrable practice with multi-year events planning, management (including health and safety and technical delivery) and delivery alongside your practice of audience development and marketing. What’s crucial is your proven track record of success plus a courageous leadership abilities approach and your intellectual horsepower.
You will play a vital function in enhancing the Wellington’s reputation as the cultural capital and as a great place to live, work, play and visit.
