We have 15 chickens and 4 sheep, which will soon be 10 sheep and maybe a few ducks and goats. We are foodies who’s plan is to produce as much of our own meat, fruit and vegetables for our kitchen as seasonally possible year-round. Our property 25km southwest of Taumarunui, a 6-acre block, 1/3 bush, with a stream that flows out to the Whanganui River along the Forgotten Highway (SH43). Ideal candidates would be a professional couple who are travelling and want to live in the hills for 2-4 weeks in exchange for our guest bedroom (own bathroom) and food. Having your own car is a must. 'We keep the pantry topped up and will cook for you roughly half the time if desired, you will be responsible for cooking your own meals. We are only seeking honest, reliable and hard-working people that want to spend some time in the country and help us progress our block. You must have a reference we can call and provide your full name and age. Building practice would be great and could lead to other opportunities. For the right person or people, longer-term arrangements could be a possibility. In these summer months, we would expect the work to be done from 6:00 am-11:15 am to beat the heat.
