You have been called to follow in the footsteps of your heritage and legacy of our forefathers who criss-crossed the oceans; intrepid explorers, seasoned wayfarers, navigators of sea and sky, astronomers and scientists. The time for change is now. This time to serve our Pacific family in Aotearoa is now.
Fluent in the cultures of the Pacific, you will lend your equity lens and skills in this senior function.
The function will see you move through different ‘islands’ of work in the ocean that is the Commission and the wider health sector.
Our organisation shines a light on health quality, improvement and safety within the health system.
Your function will be varied and will include but is not limited to the following:
   » Supporting and leading quality improvement projects, programmes and learning resources that allow for a Pacific worldview to be embedded in order to reduce health inequities for Pacific people
   » Supporting and contributing to the normalisation of Pasifika methodologies and frameworks into the fabric of the Commission to achieve Pacific health equity
   » Where required, writing and analysing of research and reports pertaining to our function
   » Quantitative and qualitative analysis capability, capcapability and knowledge to shape the equity narrative for Pacific peoples in a positive light and utilised as a lever for change
Ideally, the preferred candidate will exhibit the following:
   » Agile and flexible, and multi-talented
   » A ‘Sina’ or ‘Sione’ of all trades
   » Well-versed in Pacific cultural frameworks and methodologies
   » Adept at analysing and collating data
   » Have strong written communication skills for policy writing and storytelling
   » A digital native and tech-savvy
   » A champion for our matua, families and young people.
   » Have strong community links and networks
   » Be able to work autonomously and concurrently to progress the Tagata o le Moana work programme
   » Be able to influence, innovate, improve and inform in the work that we do with the health sector and internally
   » Have a frontline, health, education, social justice or community practitioner background
Although the preference for this function is to be either Auckland or Wellington-located, there is some flexibility.
As a sector leader for quality and safety, we work with clinicians, providers, consumers and wh?nau to improve health and discapability support services. We are a stand-alone Crown entity with a Board responsible to the Minister of Health, helping providers across the health sector, both private and public, to improve service safety and quality and therefore results for all who use these services in Aotearoa New Zealand.You can read more about us, our work and our values on our website:www.hqsc.govt.nz
