Our Palmerston North based client is looking for a proactive and motivated Assistant Accountant with proven experience to join their progressive business. This business is all about looking after their people and their well-being. Employer of choice!
Reporting directly to the General Manager - Finance & Logistics, you will be responsible for providing financial support to the GM and wider business. You will be working collaboratively across the business to support the objectives and goals of this stable organization.
This is a permanent position working Monday - Friday with hours being 30-35 per week.
The key responsibilities of this pivotal role are:
   » Maintain accounts payable/receivable functions
   » Process invoices and input transactions and payments into the ERP system
   » Reconcile supplier statements monthly
   » Enter payment transactions from the bank statements
   » Payroll duties including preparing weekly wages, fortnightly salaries, and reporting functions
   » Assist department managers with payroll, IT and compliance onboarding for new employees
   » Cashflow duties including reconciling bank accounts
   » Month end and trial balance duties
   » Administer the Fixed Asset Register and depreciation
   » Prepare GST reports and make payments
   » Data analysis reports
To be successful you will ideally have the following:
   » Proven understanding of accounting principles demonstrated in a similar role
   » Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
   » Well-developed numeracy skills
   » Strong computer skills with an advanced level in MS Excel & Word
   » Experience using MS Power Suite; this is desirable, but you will need a key desire to learn if no previous experience
   » Excellent written and verbal communication skills
   » Strong analytical skills and problem-solving capability with an investigative mind
   » Effective time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines
To succeed in this role, you will be business minded and have a strong work ethic with the ability to work collaboratively. You will be professional, well organised and have a positive attitude.
