»Inspire the creative vision for T?maki Makaurau
»Build a clear and compelling story to increase the impact of the arts in the everyday lives of Aucklanders
   »Help focus investment decisions
He angit?tanga: The opportunity
Lead the development of an audience-led creative strategy for Auckland Council. In this function, you will work closely with arts teams within public programming, public art, and heritage collections to help focus investment decisions, provide curatorial leadership abilities, and inspire the creative vision for T?maki Makaurau. Led by research and insights, you will build a clear and compelling story to increase the impact of the arts in the everyday lives of Aucklanders.
this function will require both internal and external collaboration. You will be able to lead a vision, inspire support through influence, and bring to bear your substantial sector networks to help form and shape the direction of the Council arts teams.
You will have your finger on the pulse of the creative sector and contemporary arts scene in T?maki Makaurau. A deep knowledge of the landscape, sector challenges, and future trends are all critical. A background in policy, evaluation, and insights, or evidence of this in your work, is an advantage.
Your work will demonstrate a strong knowledge of support for delivering M?ori results.
The capability to form, develop, and grow internal teams will also be central to your work. Though you have no direct reports yourself, you will be responsible for establishing and growing multiple workstreams across directorates which involve arts results, playing key leadership abilities functions. You will have a process orientated brain, and demonstrated practice in establishing and monitoring new systems and structures.
Context and guidance for the function is provided by:
» Toi Whitiki - the Arts and Culture Strategic Action Plan
» the Auckland Council Public Art Policy
   » the Auckland Music Strategy
» the investment approach in Council's 10-year budget
This is a newly created function where you will work closely with the Creative Partnership lead. There is scope for you to make the function your own where an increase in access and opportunities to participate in arts and culture is realised.
He k?rero m?u: About you
We are seeking for someone that can prosperously develop a framework of arts and culture programmes across Auckland informed by audience reach and through cross-sector collaboration.
To be prosperous in this function, you will have:
» Good knowledge and working knowledge of tikanga and te reo and practice in working with M?ori or within M?ori paradigms
» 10+ years' practice in a function that blends creativity and strategy - within the arts sector is desirable but not a requirement
» A track record of working collaboratively across diverse areas of work and stakeholders
» Courage to be innovative and trial new ways of influencing the engagement of new or underserved audiences in arts and culture
» Knowledge of the creative sector and stakeholder networks
» capability to influence change often with the advice provided to elected members and decision makers
A bachelor's degree in any of business management, strategy development, planning or policy, marketing, arts, research or law would be a good fit
