The Abuse in Care Royal Commission of Inquiry places Survivors at the heart of its mahi.
The Commission has recently re-aligned its organisational structure to ensure Information technology can deliver its large work programme leading towards delivering our final report to the Governor-General in June 2023. As a result of this restructure, there are a number of new employment opportunities that have been created across the organisation.
We are currently seeking a Head of Survivor Accounts to join our organisation to be responsible for the management of processes and policies and will lead teams to triage and support survivors through the testimony and hearing processes. The teams will interact directly with survivors whilst they tell their stories, which will then be recorded, analysed and reviewed.

As the Head of Survivor Accounts, some key areas of responsibility include the following:
   » Ensuring Survivors are managed appropriately and with empathy in their dealing with the Commission
   » Be accountable for the Contact and Support Centre, all private sessions and hearings and wellness for Survivors
expertise and practices:
The key expertise and practice We are seeking for include (but not limited to) the following:
   » practice in leading high performing teams and providing exceptional culture development and team performance
   » An knowledge of and empathy for survivors and the difficulties they face in telling of their trauma, whilst maintaining a neutral and supportive stance
   » Significant practice in leadership abilities within both corporate and community environments. Cultural sensitivity, incorporating M?ori Tikanga
   » An knowledge of the psychology of trauma survivors.
   » Proven capability to establish protocols, procedures, processes and systems
   » An knowledge of the legal requirements around collection and presentation of information that may be used in a legal environment
   » Sound analytical expertise

The Royal Commission is investigating the abuse and neglect of people in State and faith-located institutions between 1950 and 1999. We will make recommendations to the Governor-General in 2023 on how New Zealand can better care for children, young people and vulnerable adults.
