Do you enjoy meeting and greeting new people? Mt White Station covers 40,000ha of the Canterbury High Country in the unique Arthurs Pass area. We are currently going through an exciting and large development of infrastructure and farming operations with new tourism accommodation and activities. This requires growth within the team and creates a unique opportunity for the right applicant. This positions can be negotiated as full-time, permanent, or seasonal. Potential work opportunities for a partner, may also exist. Our newly built, fully equipped Cookshop, fitted with a Turbofan Combi Steamer/oven, sits within an open plan kitchen, with bench seating facing towards the gardens and Mt White. The Cookshop is also our first contact for all our tourism guests and visitors to Mt White; therefore, We are seeking for a well-organised, friendly personality to plan, prepare cook fresh, nutritional, well-balanced meals as needed, including morning tea, lunches, dinners for tourism guests, staff and contractors, including special functions, incorporating seasonal produce grown on the station. The ideal candidate may come from a busy and well-organized restaurant or hotel environment. Our ideal candidate for this position will have; • Have the capability to self-manage and work well on your own. Able to organise your days and weeks effectively, with excellent time-management to run an efficient and consistent kitchen, in a sole-charge position. • Have a passion for cooking, and be creative with ideas for nutritious food. • Have a thorough knowledge of Food Handling (up-to-date certificate preferred) • Have an knowledge of Special Diets and Allergies and be able to provide meals whenever necessary. • Have an knowledge of food costs and be able to work within a monthly budget. • Excellent people and communication expertise. (written and oral), Able to form positive professional relationships with the team, visitors, guests and suppliers. • Be punctual and reliable with a good sense of humour and a can do attitude. • The capability to work and live alongside a diverse group of people, playing an active function in all day-to-day activities that must be undertaken (as required and directed), including embracing the team culture and remote Canterbury high country life. • A good knowledge of working safely and the capability to follow all H&S requirements on Farm • Have the capability to work weekends and long weekends as requested.
