About our group and team BE&S – Business Enablement and Support We deliver well-connected, efficient and effective corporate services that enable our people to do their best work every day. The essential services, support, tools and resources we provide help make the Ministry a great place to work. The Applications Support Services team sits within our Operations and Infrastructure division (IT Group, part of Business Enablement and Support – BE&S) providing technical support for business and corporate applications and specialist database advice. This also incorporates assessing the support needs for new business applications and the monitoring of the applications infrastructure. About this function The Senior Automation Engineer – Applications is primarily responsible for automating and supporting the Ministry’s infrastructure and applications over both the Linux and Windows platforms. This is to enable teams and programmes to improve service and delivery quality, free up capacity and help deliver value to stakeholders faster. Further to this, there function provides an element of application support services. This entails troubleshooting and releases being applied to applications should the System Administrators be unable to do so. About you To be prosperous in this function you will have a team orientated mind set and be open to opportunities of learning new platforms and technologies. You will also offer the following: » A range of knowledge and expertise including automated deployment, continuous integration, release engineering, containers and container orchestration » Medium level scripting expertise in languages such as BASH, Powershell, Python, Ruby and PHP » practice of having worked in an environment maintaining and supporting mission critical systems ensuring the applications continue to operate effectively. This will include practical practice supporting business applications with knowledge of Windows Server 2016/2019 and/or RedHat/Centos Linux particularly with Microsoft Internet Information Services and/or Apache/NGINX web servers » practice in have working with BAU and Project environments, you will have the capability to communicate effectively at both a business and technical level If you’d like to bring your expertise to a compensateing function within an organisation that’s continuously reaching goals and striving for a better future for New Zealand, we’d love to hear from you.
