   » Responsible for content selection and planning the forward digitisation programme with a major focus on historic newspapers for delivery on the Papers Past website.
   » Work with publishers and copyright holders to extend the range of material that can be made available online
   » Work collaboratively with partner organisations, including the administration of the annual collaborative newspaper digitisation programme.
   » Provide advice to stakeholders

Information and Knowledge Services (IKS) | Te T?huhu Iringa K?rero Collaborative Services group sits within the Information and Knowledge Services branch, the Department's epicentre of information management, culture and heritage. Our branch is all about collecting, storing and preserving important things that are precious to New Zealand.
If you're interested in helping to increase the amount of New Zealand and Pacific content that is available online, this may be the job for you. You'll be working in the small team that manages the digitisation of historic newspapers, periodicals, books and other material for the well-known website Papers Past
The primary focus of this function is to ensure that newspapers are selected, assessed, and cleared for digitisation, in consultation with others in the Library. This involves planning, research, copyright assessment and arranging the duplication of microfilm as required. You will also be responsible for running our annual collaborative newspaper digitisation programme, and working with other long-term partners.
To do this function you will have:
   » Excellent communication expertise, both written and oral
   » Planning/project management expertise and an eye for detail
   » practice in working with external partners and copyright holders
   » practice in historical New Zealand or Pacific research, with a focus on historic publications, an advantage
   » Knowledge of NZ copyright law, particularly as Information technology applies to printed publications an advantage
   » An knowledge of current digital imaging technologies an advantage
