We want you to show the world WHY art galleries and the arts are essential. Help us to remind our local councillors of our core functions and the function we play as an art gallery within our communities. ?The arts are healing balms because at their heart is a celebration of life, a celebration of the possibility of joy, of wonder, of beauty. In the coming days, as the fragility of life is increasingly threatened, the arts will be part of what puts us back together? - UoA Professor Peter O'Connor, ?The days ahead', a post in The Big Idea, 1 April 2020. There are 50 A5 visual diaries ready for you to collect and fill with everything your artistic heart desires. Poetry, doodles, sketches, paintings, everyday instructions on how to be more creative, recipes for life, secret love letters to your favourite creator, memories, pictures of inspiration from magazines or books or menus from your favourite restaurant. Make Information technology a group project and fill itwith the work of 5 or 10 of your fellow creatives. Anything goes! Give the community 50 reasons to come and immerse themselves in your visual diary.All diaries will be on display in The Upstairs Gallery from Friday 16 July until Sunday 8 August 2021.The exhibition opens with a preview on Friday 16 July from 6 to 7.30pm. How to submit the application: You can collect a diary from The Upstairs Gallery on Level One in Lopdell Houseuntil Saturday 26 June, 4pm.» Registration fee which includes the visual diary costs $25. » All diaries MUST BE RETURNED for display by Tuesday 13 July. » All diaries must be for sale and include commission of 25% plus GST on the commission.
