The Board and supporting Secretariat is a body corporate separate from and independent of Auckland Council. The Board's Mission is: Te t?nuitanga i ng? p?nga M?ori i T?maki Makaurau – to advance the interests of M?ori in T?maki Makaurau. Your focus will include: » Ensuring M?ori can have existing marae developed by a council that respects and genuinely considers the importance of marae to M?ori » Establishing Te Reo M?ori as a recognised taonga and integral part of M?ori cultural expression within T?maki Makaurau » Ensuring M?ori retain a sense of place and identity, and the wider community understands the value of diversity and embraces our culture.
