About us:
In a field where the pace of change is rapid, the Digital Public Service branch works with and through agencies to drive and deliver a customer-centred digital government. Playing a key function in supporting the Government Chief Digital and the strategy for the Digital Public Service, We are seeking for talent who can work collaboratively to leverage our people and technology, to improve and drive for a unified digital public service for all New Zealanders.
About the function:
Working closely with the Director you will be instrumental in shaping and providing expert insight regarding information on policy issues relating to our international commitments. The Principal Advisor will contact effectively with various stakeholders to help inform our priorities and strategy, ensuring that there is the appropriate flow of information and then translating them to provide clarity to deliver tangible results.
What will you bring to the function?
Bringing an inquisitive mind-set, you will take a holistic approach to your work and be comfortable working in an agile and changing environment. You will naturally have a collaborative style and will engage with our senior stakeholders and Ministers to support their decision making and coordinate the delivery of our priority results.
You will be a confident trusted advisor who brings evidence and informed analysis to help us identify the independencies and make improvements between various programmes of work while using sound governance frameworks to provide high quality insight and advice to develop policy and practice initiatives.
With your passion to engage and share knowledge and skills with ease, you will support the branch to think differently and help leverage capcapability on common pieces of work. Your highly developed communication, networking and influencing skills will provide credibility to translate strategic priorities into outcome focused objectives.
What you will need to succeed:
   » High attention to detail and outstanding writing skills, to prepare concise and compelling reports, briefings, submissions, and other advice on complex and sensitive issues to ensure quality and timeliness of advice.
   » Have the confidence and credibility to intervene and / or provide constructive challenge to senior stakeholders and act as a trouble-shooter to resolve policy issues and bring a sense of clarity and direction to complex situations.
   » We are committed to increasing our cultural confidence as an organisation and an knowledge in Te Reo M?ori would be incredibly valuable.
   » Be able to continually improve the quality of our delivery ensuring our stakeholders are provided with timely, professional & sustainable relationships

   » Possess excellent judgement and sound decision-making skills to help meet our aspirations delivering digital results for across government
